Police Seek Van Driver Who Struck Juvenile Skateboarder

The East Haven Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating a white Chevy Express van that struck a girl who was skateboarding and sped away. The hit-and-run was caught on camera shortly after 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 18, near the intersection of Tyler Street and Taylor Avenue.

Police said the girl was attempting to cross Tyler Street when the van, traveling westbound struck her, knocking her unconscious. Upon arrival at the scene of the hit-and-run, officers found the girl, who was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

According to police, several witnesses said that after striking the girl, the driver of the van briefly stopped, pulled into a driveway to turn around, and sped away eastbound on Tyler Street while several passersby offered aid to the skateboarder.
